Epson EcoTank ET-1110 Review

In today’s review, I’m taking a look at the Epson EcoTank ET-1110

We all know the struggle, or at least know someone who has had the struggle of buying a new inkjet printer and then only a few weeks later needing to buy more ink for it. Which can cost 2-3 times more than the price of the printer!

Lately, a lot of printer companies have been coming up with new ways to lower the cost of a household printer, And Epson is one of those companies with their lineup of EcoTank printers that use tanks of ink instead of the traditional ink cartridge.

Big thanks to Epson for sending this out for review!

What’s in the Box?

Well the box for the printer is really big, and when I first got it in I wasn’t able to fit it in my photo area. I’ve changed things around so from now on I can take photos of bigger products.

In the box you get the printer itself, 3 bottles of ink, a USB A to USB B cable, a power cable and some documentation.

Design and Features

Design wise the Epson ET-1110 is a pretty standard looking inkjet printer.

On the front of the unit is the print tray where all the finished prints come to, An Epson logo and the front of the ink tanks are also visible to see remaining ink in the printer.

On the top is the power button and a multi function button that corrects errors and allows you to do a range of things like head cleaning. Also accessed from the top is the ink ports, this is where you fill up the ink tanks. I really like how Epson has designed this, the ink bottles will not release and liquid unless seated in their respective port and each bottle/port has a different key so that you can’t accidentally put the wrong ink into the wrong tank!

Epson ET-1110 Ink Ports

On the rear of the printer is where the paper feed is, the Epson ET-1110 is capable of taking most types of paper up to the size of A4.

On the back of the printer is where you will find the AC power in port and the USB-B port to connect it to your PC.

Exclusive auto-stop ink bottles – uniquely keyed for easy filling of each colour

100-sheet paper capacity – print stacks of pages without interruption

Small size, great performance – save space at home

PRINTING FREEDOM

For one upfront price, the Epson EcoTank printers come with enough ink in the box to print 3,600 pages in black and 6,500 pages in colour without worrying about ongoing ink replacement and costs.

HIGH-VOLUME INK BOTTLES

Additional low-cost ink can be bought in convenient high-volume bottles that have a drip-free nozzle and resealable cap for easy storage and refilling. Replacement bottles hold enough ink for a massive 4,500 pages in black and 7,500 pages in colour.

SPACE SAVING DESIGN

The ET-1110 is designed for small spaces. Its compact footprint means you can fit it comfortably anywhere in your home office or home, creating an ergonomic work environment.

Setup

Setting up the Epson ET-1110 is really easy, just plug the USB cable into your PC and the printer and download the drivers from the Epson website, the printer can work without drivers thanks to the way Windows 10 finds basic drivers but you cannot perform maintenance tasks like cleaning and print head alignment without downloading the drivers and these tasks are a must to keep print quality up.

Quality

It’s really hard to convey print quality over a picture, but the Epson ET-1110 is able to print some pretty high quality prints, documents come out nice and sharp and it reproduces colours pretty well. Picture quality is not a strong point of the ET-1110 as it isn’t a super high resolution printer, so if you’re looking for a printer for just photo printing this is not the one.

Pricing

The Epson ET-1110 is available online for around $300 AUD with free shipping from Epson!

Does the Epson ET-1110 have a scanner?

To put it straight, No, the Epson ET-1110 does not have an integrated scanner. It is something that I like to see for printers that are marketed towards households and home office use. But unfortunately there is not one on this printer.

Conclusion

In summary, the Epson ET-1110 is a pretty decent printer for a normal household for printing things like assignments, reports and school homework. If you’re after a printer for photo printing I would recommend you take a look at some of the higher-end EcoTank printers as these have higher printing resolutions.
