The world of NVMe storage is rapidly growing with the prices rapidly decreasing. This makes choosing NVMe a no-brainer when upgrading or building a new PC. But what are the differences in the types of NVMe SSDs? I recently took a look at the WD Black SN750 which is one of the fast NVMe SSDs out there and today I’m taking a look at it’s little brother, the WD Blue SN550 NVMe SSD to see just how well it performs.
Big thanks to Western Digital for sending this over for review!
What’s in the Box?

Included in the box of the WD Blue SN550 is the SSD itself packaged nicely inside a plastic clamshell to protect it during shipping, also in the box is some documentation with warranty info etc.

Design and Features
The WD Blue SN550 is a 2280 style SSD like pretty much every M.2 SSD out there and as the name goes this is a Blue SSD, so going with the name the SSD is predominantly blue down to the PCB. It features gold plated fingers and overall it feels really well made and premium.
